Boys basketball: Post Falls finishes 3-0 at tourney

Connor Hill and Shawn Reid combined to score 20 points in the fourth quarter to boost Post Falls past Lincoln 73-64 Wednesday to finish the Cd’A Holiday Inn Express Invitational at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene as the only undefeated squad.

Coeur d’Alene 63, Chief Sealth 48: Deon Watson tallied a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds and the Vikings (8-2) overcame a shaky first half in which they scored just 22 points to outscore the Seahawks 41-24 in the second half at the CdA tourney.

Walla Walla 79, University 75: The Blue Devils’ Gary Winston wrapped up his tournament MVP award with a 41-point performance against the Titans (5-3). Winston hit 7 of 9 3-pointers and added 12 of 18 from the free-throw line to pave the way for the Devils.

Holiday Showcase

Curtis 61, Kentridge 56: Gary Bell scored a game-high 26 points, but the Vikings finished with three players in double figures, led by Darius Johnson-Wilson’s 16, to upend the Chargers in the championship game of the Holiday Showcase at Spokane Falls CC. Bell was named tournament MVP, scoring at least 20 points in all three games.

Shadle Park 69, Lake City 51: Brett Boese scored 18 points and Robby Douglas added 17 for the Highlanders (7-2), who upended the Timberwolves (6-3) in the third-place game of the Holiday Showcase at Spokane Falls.

Ferris 82, South Kamloops 30: Connor Halliday and Riley Stockton each had 15 points as three players finished in double figures for the Saxons (3-5) against the Titans.

Foss 67, Lewis and Clark 58: Three players scored in double figures for the Falcons, led by 19 points from Jamal Byrd in their win over the Tigers (3-5).

Wenatchee Tourney

Puyallup 61, Mead 55: Jare Sager hit 5 of 8 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points for the Vikings (6-3) in their win over the Panthers (5-3). Puyallup hit 13 of 26 3-pointers and shot 65 percent from the floor. Mead finished 0-2 at the tournament.

Blackhawk Invite

Cheney 67, East Valley 61 (OT): DeAngelo Jones scored 26 points, including hitting 6 of 8 free throws in the overtime period, and the Blackhawks (4-2) outlasted the Knights (1-7) to win the championship game. Jones also added 11 rebounds for the Blackhawks, while Daniel Igbinoba scored a career-high 19 points with 13 rebounds.

Mt. Spokane 63, Lake Roosevelt 58: Trevor Kissinger scored 19 points with two 3-pointers and 5-of-7 shooting from the free-throw line and the Wildcats (1-7) outlasted the Raiders (5-4) in the third-place game.

Non-league

Central Valley 68, Moses Lake 33: Joseph Guerrinha was 7 of 7 from the floor for 19 points, Gaven Deyarmin added seven rebounds, six assists and three steals to his five points and the Bears scored 27 points off turnovers to cruise to a win against the Chiefs at CV.

Gonzaga Prep 50, Bellarmine Prep 39: Ryan Nicholas scored a game-high 23 points for the Bullpups (7-1), who took a quick eight-point lead after one quarter and never trailed the Lions at G-Prep. Chris Sarbaugh had eight rebounds for the Bullpups.

Colton 74, Lakeside (ID) 37: Josh Straughan led three Wildcats (3-3) in double figures with 24 points as they scored 19 points in each of the final three quarters to run away with the win against the host Knights (4-5) at Plummer. Nate Weaselhead led the Knights with 12 points.

Springdale 57, Kettle Falls 42: Rodney Abrahamson finished with 11 points, six assists and six steals and the Chargers (7-3) finished with three players in double figures, led by Sam Howard’s 15, to beat the Bulldogs (1-7) in Springdale. Matt Edwards had 15 points for KF.

Selkirk 56, Valley Christian 30: Hunter Enyeart did the bulk of the damage for the Rangers (8-3) in the paint, finishing with 24 points and helped them build a 22-point halftime lead with a 22-5 edge in the second quarter against the Panthers (1-6) at Valley Christian.

Yakima Shootout

La Salle 44, Colfax 43: Caleb Bravard scored 23 points for the Bulldogs (3-3), shooting 9 of 10 from the free-throw line, but they missed the potential winning bucket in the final seconds and fell to the Lightning at the Yakima SunDome Shootout in Yakima.

Deer Park 52, Burbank 34: Colton Peone dominated the paint for the Stags with 19 points, Kendall Peone added 12 and the Stags (4-2) pushed ahead in the second half, outscoring the Coyotes 35-15 after the break.

Naches Valley 62, Newport 34: The Rangers outscored the Grizzlies (3-7) 25-6 in the first quarter and did not let up, coasting to a victory.

Vashon Island 56, Colville 32: John Gage’s 28 points led the Pirates to a win over the Indians (1-5).

Reardan Tournament

Kellogg 45, Chewelah 42: Cody Lewis scored 14 points to go with eight rebounds and the Wildcats (5-4) put the game away at the free-throw line, making 10 of their 16 opportunities to win the title game over the Cougars (8-3).

Reardan 84, Columbia Basin 31: Chace Bell and Grant Schultz each poured in 20 points and the Indians (3-5) took third place with a rout of the Phoenix. The Indians outscored the Moses Lake visitors 39-6 in the second half, including 16-0 in the fourth quarter.

Dayton Tournament

Odessa 48, LaCrosse-Washtucna 44: The Tigers (6-4) scored the last four points in the final 45 seconds on a 3-pointer by Kramer Schultz and 1 of 2 free throws by Nick Campbell to beat the Tigercats (4-5) in the championship game.

Dayton 44, Kiona-Benton 40: The Bulldogs beat the Bears in the third-place game.

Waterville Tournament

Okanogan 64, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 49: The Bulldogs (7-0) jumped out early, outscoring the Warriors (5-4) 27-12 in the first quarter to earn the championship.
