Zags score 109 in win over Toreros

Heather Bowman tossed in a game-high 28 points and Vivian Frieson scored a career-high 23 to propel the Gonzaga Bulldogs to a 109-73 victory over the San Diego Toreros in West Coast Athletic Conference action Saturday in San Diego.

Frieson also chipped in four rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots and two steals.

It was the GU women’s highest scoring total since a 111-84 win over Seattle Pacific in 1985.

Janelle Bekkering notched 19 points, Claire Rapp scored a career-high 13 in 11 minutes of play and Courtney Vandersloot handed out 11 assists for the Bulldogs.

Gonzaga (19-4, 7-0) has won eight straight.

Kiva Herman scored 22 to top San Diego (12-9, 3-4).

Washington State 68, Arizona 58: Freshman Jazmine Perkins tallied her first career double-double to power the Cougars (9-11, 2-7) to a victory over the visiting Wildcats (8-12, 1-8) in Pacific-10 Conference play.

Perkins finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Katie Appleton scored 15 for the Cougs to move into 10th place on the school’s all-time list with 1,015 points. Freshman Rosie Tarnowski scored 12 on 4-of-4 shooting from 3-point range.

Arizona State 80, Washington 64: Dymond Simon had 17 points and six assists to lead the visiting Sun Devils (15-6, 7-2) past the Huskies (5-14, 1-8) in Pac-10 action.

Briann January (Lewis and Clark High) added 12 points for ASU.

Montana 81, Eastern Washington 56: Mandy Morales had game highs of 28 points, six rebounds and eight assists to carry the visiting Grizzlies (18-4, 7-1) past the Eagles (9-12, 4-4) in Big Sky Conference play.

Nicole Scott came off the bench to score 15 on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor to pace EWU.

Pacific 62, Whitworth 49: Rochelle Reeves scored a game-high 18 and Julianne Erbe added 12 points and 10 rebounds to lift the Boxers (7-11, 6-4) over the Pirates (11-8, 5-5) in Northwest Conference action in Forest Grove, Ore.

Cassie Pilkinton scored 15 to pace Whitworth.

CC Spokane 65, Columbia Basin 64: Meghan Eisenmann tallied 17 points and nine rebounds and Kelsey Stillar hit a pair of free throws with 10 seconds remaining to help the Sasquatch (11-8, 4-3) hold off the visiting Hawks (13-7, 5-1) in NWAACC play at Spokane Falls CC.
