Camp Fire USA Inland Northwest Council is selling Camp Fire Candy at local grocery stores and neighborhoods, through March 1.

Candies include Smooth Mint Patties, Almond Roca, Almond Caramel Clusters and P-Nuttles, and sell for $5 each.

The annual fundraiser benefits Camp Fire USA programs for boys and girls.

Ailey II dancers to perform at Fox

Ailey II will be at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox stage on Feb. 22 at 3 p.m., to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Ailey II began in 1974 and is now under the direction of Sylvia Waters. Ailey’s vision continues through Ailey II, providing dance performances, training and community programs uniting people of all races, ages and backgrounds establishing an extended cultural community.

Marmot March planned for May 2

The fourth annual Marmot March kids run will be held May 2 at 10 a.m., downtown in Riverfront Park.

The 1.2-mile course is organized by the Lilac Bloomsday Association and allows kids to have the opportunity to participate in Bloomsday weekend, yet in a race that is catered for them.

The race is similar to Bloomsday, greeted by area mascots and cheerleading teams, and at the finish line, snacks by Franz Bakeries are available for them. The entry fee is $10 and includes a T-shirt and paint set. Kids are encouraged to paint their T-shirt in advance and then wear it during the Marmot March. Shirts are required for entry into the race. Space is limited to the first 300 entries.

The Chase Youth Foundation will hold the third annual “Breakfast of Champions” on April 19, from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the Lincoln Center, located at 1316 N. Lincoln St.

The featured speaker at the event will be Marguerite Kondracke, the President and CEO of America’s Promise Alliance.

Library to offer homework help

The Spokane County Library District is now providing free homework help for students in grades K-12, introductory-level college courses, and even adult learners.

A new online service Tutor.com’s Live Homework Help is available seven days a week and provides free help from qualified tutors. Professional tutors can assist students with math, science, social studies and English via the Internet. Tutors can also aid with resume- building and proofing for job seekers of any age.

The Web site is accessible by visiting www.scld.org, and students can connect to the site from the Spokane County Public Library or from their own PC or MAC, from 2 to 10 p.m. A library card will be required for remote access.

‘Peak Oil’ to be shown at Whitworth

Whitworth University will present “Peak Oil: Expected Impacts on the Domestic and Global Economics During the Next Decade,” today at 7:30 p.m. in the Robinson Teaching Theatre of Weyerhaeuser Hall on the university’s campus, 300 W. Hawthorne Road.

Homebuyer classes start Wednesday

Community Frameworks, 315 W. Mission Ave., will hold a series of classes to help potential homebuyers better understand credit, personal finances and mortgage lending starting Wednesday at 6 p.m.

This first class will discuss “Understanding Credit” and will be followed with “Managing your finances” on March 18, “Mortgage Basics” on April 15 and “Understanding Credit” will repeat again on May 20.
