Truck leads to property theft cache

Spokane Valley police and property crimes detectives recovered a large quantity of stolen property from a home at 12209 E. Lenora last week, said spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan.

Officers were called to the 11200 block of East Ferret Drive about 11:40 by a witness who reported an abandoned U-Haul truck at the location.

Officers arrived and determined the truck was a retired rental box van stolen in the overnight burglary of Habitat for Humanity at 850 E. Spokane Falls Blvd. Property was stolen from the nonprofit home-building enterprise as well.

In searching the truck, officers recovered evidence that led them to the home on East Lenora. Officers received consent to search the residence and began finding suspected stolen property. Detectives were called to the scene.

Items recovered include tools, construction materials, flat-screen televisions, remote control cars, boxes of tool bits and accessories, and other items.

No arrests were made, but a Spokane Valley police spokesman said future arrests are likely.
