Dentmon lifts Huskies into first

Bolstering his case for Pac-10 player of the year consideration, Washington’s Justin Dentmon matched his career high with seven 3-pointers and scored 28 points, and the Huskies moved into first place in the conference with a 79-60 win over Oregon State on Thursday night at Seattle.

Washington (18-6, 9-3) leads UCLA by one-half game in the conference standings with a showdown between the two schools set for Thursday in Los Angeles. Fortunately for Washington, Dentmon’s performance and another solid effort off the bench from Venoy Overton staved off the Beavers’ upset bid.

Calvin Haynes led Oregon State (10-13, 4-8) with 15 points, but the Beavers dropped their third game in a row following a four-game winning streak.

(18) Arizona State 74, (11) UCLA 67: Derek Glasser scored 15 points, including a clutch 3-pointer, and the Sun Devils (19-5, 8-4) defeated the Bruins (19-5, 8-3) at Tempe, Ariz.

The Sun Devils hit 11 3-pointers, none bigger than Glasser’s from the right corner with 1:12 remaining that give Arizona State a 69-67 lead.

James Harden scored 15 points and had a career-high 11 assists as Arizona State became the first Pac-10 team to sweep the season series with UCLA since Washington in 2005-06.

Arizona 83, USC 76: Nic Wise sank a 3-pointer with 43.8 seconds, then made two free throws with 17.3 seconds remaining and the Wildcats (17-8, 7-5) pulled away to win their sixth in a row, defeating the Trojans (15-8, 6-5) at Tucson, Ariz.
