ISU professor to speak on Lincoln

“Lincoln and Lunch” will be held at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library, 702 E. Front Ave., Feb. 26. The bicentennial of the birth of the 16th President of the U.S. will be celebrated with a brown-bag presentation.

David Adler, an Idaho State University political science professor and Lincoln scholar, will speak in the Community Room at the library. Adler has taught a number of courses on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

He has also written books and articles, including “The Constitution and the Termination of Treaties” and “The President and the Law: The Clinton Legacy.”

Beverages will be provided.

The library will be closed Monday for President’s Day resuming regular hours on Tuesday.

CdA Tribal Blessing at casino

The Coeur d’Alene Tribal Winter Blessing will be at the Stensgar Pavilion at The Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort and Hotel in Worley on Monday and Wednesday, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and Feb. 20 and 21, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The free event includes storytelling, drumming, and dancers, and will share the importance of the winter season of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe.

Homeowner seminars planned

Finally Home! Homebuyer Education classes, designed to educate first-time homebuyers are currently being held in Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint.

The seminars cover the steps necessary to purchase a home, budgeting and credit issues, predatory lending, and steps to take if a homeowner is facing foreclosure.

The classroom course is $10 per person. Pre-registration is required.

NIC Theater to perform farce

The North Idaho College Theater Department will perform “The Doctor In Spite of Himself.”

The adaptation of French playwright Moliere’s classic farce by Timothy Mooney will run Thursday through next Saturday and Feb. 27 and 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center at NIC.

The play is free and open to the public, and is recommended for mature audiences due to its sexual humor.

Youth to perform ‘Jungle Book’

Students enrolled in theater arts classes at Christian Youth Theater-North Idaho will perform “The Jungle Book” Feb. 27 through March 8 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave.

Fifty-eight students will put on this lively musical on Feb. 27 and March 6 at 7 p.m., Feb. 28 and March 7 and 8 at 3 and 7 p.m.
