Tax bill should drop

The Spokesman-Review

Home values are rapidly dropping; many of our citizens are losing their jobs. Everyone is having to tighten their belts and are looking for ways to cut back.

In June I was notified of my new assessed value on my home. My yearly tax was increased by almost $800. Now my home is worth between 20 and 30 percent less than when I purchased it 19 months ago.

The government is quick to raise assessments on property and push them up when home values rise; however, will they lower assessments and the tax bill when home values are dropping? In this time of economic crisis relief is needed and required.
