Spokane-area residents graduate from basic training

Nine local residents recently graduated from basic military training and Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

• Air National Guard Airman Dustin Harder is the son of Darren and Tresea Harder of Cheney and graduated in 2005 from home school. Harder earned distinction as an honor graduate.

• Air Force Airman Kyle Allen is the son of Patrick and Kimberly Allen of Ephrata, Wash., and graduated from Soap Lake High School in 2007.

•Air Force Airman 1st Class Catherine Sample is the daughter of Jamie Woods of Airway Heights and a 2008 graduate of Medical Lake High School.

•Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Holly Henry is the daughter of Jill Henry of Spokane and Lee Henry of Clackamas, Ore. He graduated in 2008 from Cheney High School.

• Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Andrea Banner is the daughter of Alan Banner of Nampa, Idaho, and Voyann Jones of Moses Lake.

•Air Force Airman Jennifer Nash graduated in 2007 from Harrington High School, in Harrington, Wash., and is the daughter of Gerald and Sherri Nash of Spokane.

•Air Force Airman Anthony Kolus is the son of Dale Huguenin of Colville and is a 2008 graduate of Colville High School.

• Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Andrew Harmon is the son of Andrew Alacca of Vancouver, Wash., and Kymberlie McKay of Almira, Wash. He graduated in 2008 from Evergreen High School in Vancouver.

• Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Derran Hertz is a 2007 graduate of Mead High School and is the son of Robert and Catherine Hertz of Deer Park. Hertz earned distinction as an honor graduate of the course. Three local residents graduated from basic military training at Fort Jackson, Columbus, S.C., under the Split-option Enlistment Program to serve as members of the Army National Guard or Reserve.

•Army Reserve Pvt. Casie Walters is the daughter of Roger and Judith Gillaspy of Kettle Falls, Wash., and a student at Kettle Falls High School.

•Army National Guard Pvt. Mark Goehrs is a student at East Valley High School and the son of Jim and Ellen Goehrs of Spokane.

•Army National Guard Pvt. Aristoteles Santiago is the son of Tamara Arvin of Moses Lake and a student at Columbia Basin Secondary School in Moses Lake.

•Charles Waterman graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps leader development and assessment course in Fort Lewis, Tacom. He is the son of Brad and Margaret Waterman of Newport, Wash.

•Army National Guard Pvt. Joshua Hartt has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Cyndi Hartt of Spokane.
