In brief: Dress suit drives for driven women

 

Dress Barn stores across the country, including the 15533 E. Broadway Ave. location in Spokane Valley, will be collecting new or gently-used suits and other professional apparel, during the Dress for Success S.O.S. – Send One Suit – weekend, taking place today through Sunday.

The event is being held to help underprivileged women in the community seeking career development have the opportunity to dress their best.

Life Center to host health seminar

Life Center, 1202 N. Government Way, will host a free seminar on Friday on Substance Abuse and the Family at 6:30 p.m.

Jeff Hastings, a mental health and chemical dependency counselor from Colonial Clinic, will speak about the impact of substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and co-dependency on the family. His presentation will also address the issues of the stigma of addiction in the church, and the related issues of domestic violence, parenting, loving intervention, and treatment considerations.

Spiritual fair free to public

The Mind, Body, and Spirit Holistic Fair will be Feb. 28 at the Unity Church, 2900 S. Bernard St., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The free event will host 26 vendors and eight educational presentations, including Deanna Davis, Ph.D., speaking on the “Laws of Attraction.”
