In brief: Tilth plans open house Saturday

From Staff Reports

It’s not too early to start shopping for local foods this summer.

Spokane Tilth will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Community Building, 35 W. Main Ave., to give customers a chance to look at options for buying locally grown and raised foods.

One way to support local growers is to buy a “share” of their harvest, which is delivered or picked up over the growing season. Called a CSA for Community Supported Agriculture, it can include vegetables, fruit, eggs, dairy and meat. The cost and duration of CSAs varies.

Spokane Tilth has organized a network of CSA producers to help customers find the best option for their families. Saturday’s open house will be a chance for customers to connect to those producers and learn about CSA offerings.
