Cartoonist’s work disgusting

The Spokesman-Review

My husband and I were appalled by the Michael Ramirez political cartoon that appeared in the Feb. 21 issue of The Spokesman-Review. After all of the outrage, which was totally justified, that ensued after the New Yorker cover of the Obamas during the campaign and the New York Post cartoon by Sean Delonas last week, it might have behooved your editorial staff to take a little extra time to rethink what they were about to print.

Mr. Ramirez’s “Shovel-ready” cartoon was utterly distasteful, offensive and gross. His effort was not at all humorous and reveals that he is a failed practitioner of the art of political cartooning. After viewing Mr. Ramirez’s cartoons over the last several years, it is my considered opinion that the pile behind the donkey is illustrative of his work.
