Bengals bounce Vikings
Jared Heitzman led six Bengals in double figures with 22 points and Lewiston extended its season for at least one more game with an 88-65 Idaho 5A Region I boys basketball victory over the Coeur d’Alene Vikings Wednesday night at Lewiston.
The Bengals (18-4) will play Saturday at 1 p.m. at Grangeville against Mountain View of Meridian in a loser-out game with a state tournament berth on the line.
Ryan Young chipped in 13 points, Devon Brown 12, Justin Podrabsky 11, and Peter Gregg and Mark Bolland 10 apiece for Lewiston.
Devon Austin had 28 points and seven rebounds and Connor Williams had 16 points and seven rebounds for Coeur d’Alene, which ended 9-14.
Sandpoint 39, Moscow 33: Stefan Buratto scored 14 points and the Bulldogs (6-14) clinched a state tournament berth with a victory over the Bears at the Idaho 4A Region I tournament at Moscow.
Mac Stannard paced Moscow with 14 points. The Bears finished 9-12.
Pullman 60, Clarkston 51: A.J. Therrien scored 22 point and had 11 rebounds and the Greyhounds (15-6) captured the No. 2 seed to the District 7 2A tournament and a first-round bye with a Great Northern League tiebreaker victory over the Bantams at Colfax High School.
Clarkston (12-8) earned the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Colville on Saturday at 7 p.m. when district play begins. No. 4 Cheney hosts No. 5 Medical Lake in Saturday’s other opener.
Pullman will host the Clarkston/Colville winner on Tuesday while the Cheney/Medical Lake winner travels to No. 1 West Valley.
Jaime Fertakis added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Greyhounds.
Dustin McConnell scored 16, Trey Sobotta 11 and Bryce James 10 for Clarkston.
