Randy Krum, along with his chocolate lab Abbey and yellow lab Bella, greet Lloyd Phillips at the end of 44th Avenue near Chester Hills in the Spokane Valley Dec. 23. Phillips used to ski and ice skate at Ski-Mor ski resort, built at that location by the Schafer family. Krum recently purchased 20 acres and was plowing his road when the two met up.

Ski Mor was a ski resort built by the Schafer family in the Chester Hills area near the end of 44th Avenue in the Spokane Valley. This photo was taken in the mid 1930’s. It had a nice lodge with a big fireplace, two ski jumps and a toboggan run. Photo courtesy Spokane Valley Heritage Museum
