Pargo’s play hurts GU

The Spokesman-Review

Four times the Gonzaga men’s basketball team has lost, and no one seems too upset. It’s always: “We need to tweak something, or we caught a bad break.” How about if they get their heads out of their egos?

The truth is, four times they’ve had a chance to win at the end until Jeremy Pargo “takes over.” He has thrown errant passes, put up wild shots, and dribbled into trouble and turned it over, sometimes all in the same game. He could be forgiven if it didn’t happen every time. Every loss has come down to the last few minutes and every time he has lost the game. It could be better.

Specifics? Let Demetri Goodson bring it down and distribute to Steven Gray and Austin Daye to win the game.

By the way, Gray should be starting with Downs coming off the bench where he is most comfortable. They’ll be better when Robert Sacre comes back to spell Josh Heytvelt, but in the meantime they are in a hole so deep that only winning the WCC will get them into the NCAA tournament. What do they have to lose?
