Compass Club Luncheon and Fundraiser - A women’s club for introducing newcomers to the area. Fourth Annual Women’s Souper Bowl - For all levels of cross-country skiers and snowshoers, to benefit the Women’s and Children’s Free Restaurant. Snowshoes will be available on site free of charge. Mountain Gear, Fitness Fanatics and REI will be offering discounted ski rentals in town, reservations required. Schedule: check-in, 8:30 a.m.; timed, women-only race for both classic and skate skiers, 10 a.m.; “Souper” lunch including hot soup, fresh bread and cookies, 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m.; drawings for prizes, including massages, coffee, wine, gift certificates and gear from local outdoor sponsors, starting at 12:15 p.m. Other options include guided snowshoe tours, or venture off on a marked trail on your own. Cross-country ski tours are self-guided; treats await those who make it to the Nova Hut, a 5K loop. A chartered “Souper” Bowl bus will leave at 8 a.m. from the Mountain Gear parking lot at 2002 N. Division St. and make a stop at Mt. Spokane High School at 8:30 a.m.; bus returns at 1 p.m. Fare is $15; reservations requested.
