Trusses collapse at construction site
Three people escaped with minor injuries when roof trusses they were setting up for a partially constructed community center at a Spokane Valley mobile home park collapsed Tuesday.
The men refused treatment when crews arrived at the mobile home park near Mission Avenue and Grady Road just after 3 p.m., said Bill Clifford, spokesman for the Spokane Valley Fire Department.
Construction on the building was in the early stages, and no roof had been placed yet, he said.
Two men were on the ground and one was above helping set the trusses on the walls when they gave way.
“They toppled over like dominoes,” Clifford said.
“It’s probably due to the wetness of the wood and the slipperiness of it.”
Damage was limited to the trusses that fell, Clifford said.
