Tebow will return to Gainesville

Tim Tebow started to walk off stage, then called an audible. The Florida quarterback turned around, grabbed the microphone and told teammates, coaches and fans exactly what they wanted to hear.

“Oh, by the way, let’s do it again. I’m coming back,” Tebow said.

Tebow thrilled more than 40,000 at the school’s national championship celebration Sunday by announcing plans to return for his senior season, with hopes of leading the Gators to their first undefeated season and fourth national title.

Tebow threw 32 touchdown passes in 2007, ran for 23 more scores and became the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy. He did less this season, but accomplished more by leading Florida to its second national title in three years.

Road teams roll in NFL playoffs

It was a good weekend for road trips in the NFL playoffs.

With Baltimore, Arizona and Philadelphia all winning away from home, it marked the first time since 1971 – and only second time overall – that three road teams won on the same weekend in the playoffs, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

San Diego missed a chance at making it an NFL-record four victorious road teams in one playoff weekend, losing 35-24 at Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Baltimore edged Tennessee 13-10 and Arizona routed Carolina 33-13 on Saturday, and Philadelphia knocked off the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants 23-11 on Sunday.

Eagles and Steelers favored

The success of road teams in the NFL playoffs this month has impressed the oddsmakers.

Philadelphia is a 3-point favorite at Arizona in the NFC title game next Sunday, according to the early odds. Host Pittsburgh is a 5-point favorite over Baltimore in the AFC championship game.
