War’s suffering never ends

The Spokesman-Review

I was watching the news Monday evening as I fixed my family dinner. I saw a father grieving over the dead body of his small son. The little boy looked just like my 2-year-old son. I felt so sad for that father but also angry and helpless.

Any one of us could be that parent, and any one of our sons or daughters could be that small, lifeless body. We as a human race need to evolve past war. It doesn’t matter if you think you are right and the other side is wrong. It doesn’t matter if you think God is only on your side.

War never ends and it does not solve problems. The innocent are always maimed, killed, raped and tortured. When will we ever learn?

How many innocent children, beautiful creations of God, no matter what their race or creed, need to die? That child could be mine or yours. If we can invent the Internet and voyage to the moon, surely we can be intelligent enough to stop killing each other and invent alternatives to war.
