Halliday, Bates key Ferris victory

Connor Halliday tossed in 18 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, and Jason Bates hit three 3-pointers on his way to 15 points to lead the Ferris Saxons (6-5) to a 61-35 road victory over the Mt. Spokane Wildcats (4-5) in a Greater Spokane League boys game on Wednesday night.

Justin Stewart added 13 points for Ferris, which pulled into a three-way tie for fourth place in the league standings.

Chaz Johnson hit four 3-pointers and finished with 18 points for Mt. Spokane.

Lakeland 59, West Valley 51: John Novak and Austin Black scored 14 apiece to lead the Hawks (3-7) past the visiting Eagles (5-3) in non-league action at Rathdrum. Jordan Lupfer-Graham paced WV with 18 points.

Clarkston 53, Riverside 46: Dustin McConnell had 22 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead the Bantams (4-4, 3-0) over the visiting Rams (3-5, 1-2) in Great Northern League play.

Columbia 55, St. Michael’s 53: Marcos Morado poured in 24 points and Eli Bear made a layup at the buzzer to lift the Lions (1-8, 1-6) over the host Warriors (1-7, 1-5) in Panorama League play. Michael Ochoa topped the Warriors with 29 points, while Kevin Johnson scored 20.

Girls

Mt. Spokane 58, Ferris 27: Katie Karisch was the only player to hit double figures – scoring 15 – to carry the Wildcats (3-6) past the visiting Saxons (2-9) in GSL play.

Clarkston 61, Riverside 35: Kellie McCann-Smith totaled 22 points and KC McConnell scored 15 to lead the Bantams (5-3, 3-0) over the visiting Rams (0-8, 0-3) in a Great Northern League game.

West Valley 52, Lakeland 43: Shaniqua Nilles had 18 points, Hannah Love scored 15 and they both grabbed eight rebounds to send the visiting Eagles (7-1) past the Hawks (10-3) in non-league play at Rathdrum. Camille Reynolds scored 16 for Lakeland.

Columbia 54, St. Michael’s 24: Mackenzie Parrow scored 16 and the Lions (10-1, 8-0) forced 30 turnovers en route to a road win over the Warriors (3-5, 2-4) in Panorama League play.
