Teen dies in wreck; friends plan vigil tonight

CHENEY – A 16-year-old girl died this morning of injuries from a traffic accident that occurred Friday on State Route 195.

Lorissa Lynette Green was a sophomore at Cheney High School. Friends are planning to hold a candlelight vigil tonight in her memory. The vigil begins at 8 p.m. near the scene of the accident at Cheney-Spokane Road and SR 195.

Green was driving a 1999 Plymouth Breeze, heading eastbound on Cheney-Spokane Road, according to police reports. She headed into the intersection, where she was struck by David L. Blyton, 59, of Spangle. Blyton was headed southbound on SR 195, driving a 2004 GMC pickup and pulling a utility trailer.

The accident was reported at 5:26 p.m. Friday. Both vehicles were totaled.

Green was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where she died. Blyton was treated and released at Deaconess Medical Center.

  Lorissa was an amazing person! she touched so many lifes! She always had a smile on her face no matter how much was going on in her life. she knew how to make others laugh and most of all she knew how to live her life! She was never scared to try new things. she loved her family and friends more than anyone will ever know! She will live on even though her body can not! She is an amazing friend and i loved having her in class waiting to see if we would get into trouble again for talking like we did everyday! She was a very outgoing girl with a very big heart! I love you so much riss! and its so hard not seeing you are school or hearing your laugh! or going to your house and not seeing you in your room or hanging out with your family! we all miss you and we will never ever forget you! thats a promise!!! i love you babe! and always will! Rest In Peace.. we are all VERY proud of you!!! See you soon!
