Jones gives CCS offensive jolt
Griffon Jones put on a shooting clinic Saturday night.
Jones came off the bench to pour in a game-high 24 points and spark the visiting Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch to a 72-65 victory over the Yakima Valley Yaks in a Saturday showdown for first place in the East Division of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges.
Jones hit 10 of his 13 shots from the floor, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range. He also grabbed three rebounds in just under 19 minutes of playing time.
Sasquatch reserve Brendan Ingebritsen added 15 points and four boards. Starters Damal Neil and Kevin Cameron each scored 10 for CC Spokane (11-3, 3-0).
Rico Wilkins scored 19 to lead Yakima Valley (13-4, 2-1).
Southern Idaho 73, North Idaho 70 (OT): Daequon Montreal totaled game highs of 16 points and 18 rebounds to help the 24th-ranked Golden Eagles (15-3, 2-1) hand the 12th-ranked Cardinals (17-1, 2-1) their first loss of the season in a Scenic West Athletic Conference overtime game in Twin Falls.
Renado Parker and Guy-Marc Michel each had 14 points and seven rebounds to top North Idaho. Shawn Henderson chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds.
Jay Watkins and Aziz Ndiaye added double-doubles for CSI. Watkins finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Ndiaye had 11 points and 10 boards.
