Fog lifting, temperatures to drop

Fog covered the Inland Northwest again this morning with especially thick patches in the West Plains and Airway Heights areas. The rest of the day is expected to be mostly cloudy with high and low temperatures in the lower 20s. But like a house guest who has overstayed his welcome, the fog is finally leaving Friday, according to the National Weather Service. The ridge of high pressure that’s had the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene areas stuck in the same weather pattern for more than two weeks will be pushed out by arctic cold. A breeze will get the air moving again. The air stagnation advisory will end at noon Friday, according to the weather service. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s with predicted winds of up to 13 mph. Snow is expected to roll into the area Saturday night, but earlier predictions of up to 2 inches have dropped to less than an inch, according to the weather service. Saturday’s high temperature is expected to be 28. The low will be in the teens. On Sunday, the Inland Northwest will see a blast of cold air, according to the weather service. Temperatures are expected to hit single digits after sunset.
