Spokane Valley clueless

The Spokesman-Review

I must respond to the Jan. 9 opinion editorial “Raw deal” (about Spokane County’s decision to terminate its snow-removal agreement with Spokane Valley).

Using the term “without warning” is nonsense; the notice could not have been any clearer. Eleven-plus months is more than enough notification, even for the city of Spokane Valley.

How odd, now all of a sudden we’re needed and important, when before we were nondescript and incidental. We have always excelled, there is no one better, in serving the so-called city of Spokane Valley.

This issue is not about money or manpower, skill, professional knowledge; it’s about lack of leadership and communication. This city does not have a clue.

The second-guessing, jumping around without completion, snapping of fingers to hurry up, the total incompetence of how to handle a snow event, leads to nowhere and low morale.

No one is more knowledgeable and skilled in this area; you should have stood aside, kept your mouths shut, and let us do the job, and maybe we would still be working as a team.
