Colton holds off St. John-Endicott

Kelsey Moser scored 27 points and Colton, the top-ranked 1B team, held on to defeat St. John-Endicott 57-55 in a District 9 showdown Tuesday in Colton.

The Wildcats (14-0, 7-0), second in state last year, made two defensive stops in the final minute to preserve the win. Kelly VanLith had 18 for the Eagles (10-2, 4-2), who were just 4 of 7 from the foul line while Colton was 13 of 25.

Rosalia 46, Asotin 43: Katelyn Maley had 12 points and nine rebounds and Stephanie Van Dyke had six boards as the Spartans (7-10, 2-6) turned back the Panthers (4-9, 1-3) in Rosalia. Zara Reynolds had 15 points and 14 boards in a losing effort, with JaLisa Jose snaring 11 boards.

LaCrosse-Washtucna 40, Pomeroy 35: The visiting Tigercats (4-7, 2-4) got 17 points from Kelly Zimmer to win a foul-plagued road game over the Pirates (9-5, 3-4). Michelle FitzGerald had 10 for Pomeroy. There were 37 fouls and 44 free throws in the game.

Inland Empire

Coeur d’Alene 58, Lewiston 54: Kama Griffitts had 12 of her 29 points in the fourth quarter as the top-ranked, defending state champion Vikings (19-0, 9-0) rallied to edge the Bengals (13-5, 5-3) in Lewiston. Griffitts scored on a short runner with 18 seconds left then got a steal and last-second putback to seal the win. Kiki Edwards-Teasley led three players in double figures for the Bengals.

Lake City 71, Sandpoint 27: Katie Baker had 22 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in three quarters to highlight senior night as the Timberwolves (11-6, 5-5) rolled the visiting Bulldogs (2-17, 0-9). Sophomore Sydney Butler had 21 points, five assists and four steals for LC.

Post Falls 53, Moscow 28: Jordan Schoening had 17 points, Katelyn Loper 14 and Aynslee Stuart 11 as the fifth-ranked Trojans (13-5, 7-2) used an 18-2 second quarter to whip the Bears (3-13, 0-9) in Moscow.

Great Northern

Deer Park 53, West Valley 47: The Stags (2-10, 1-5) hit 19 of 34 free throws and Morgan Perez scored 15 of her 20 points in the first half for the road upset over the Eagles (9-3, 3-3). Hannah Love had 23 points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles.

Northeast A

Freeman 66, Chewelah 45: Carley Heinen had 16 of her 23 points in the first half and MacKenzie Taylor had 10 of her 16 plus six rebounds as the third-ranked Scotties (16-0, 6-0) rolled past the Cougars (2-16, 0-7) at Freeman. Liz Cobb topped Chewelah with 19 points.

Newport 53, Kettle Falls 52: Amber Lewis, who had 10 points, made a free throw with 20 seconds lefts as the visiting Grizzlies (12-7, 3-4) pulled out the road win by not letting the Bulldogs (9-7, 3-2) get off a final shot. Miranda Frederick led the winners with 15 points and Pamela Bell added 10. Chelsea Brisbois had 23 points and 10 rebounds for KF.

Caribou Trail

Lake Roosevelt 66, Tonasket 65: Senior Melissa Meza poured in 34 points, including the winner at the buzzer, and grabbed 18 rebounds, as the Raiders edged the Tigers. Briana Monaghan had seven assists for L-R.

Intermountain

Bonners Ferry 60, Priest River 59 (OT): Jamie Greensky hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Badgers (11-4, 6-2) to the win over the Spartans (4-3, 6-8) at Priest River. Alicia Hedrick led BF, which only had one 3 for the game, with 12 points. Taylor Stewart had 18 and Jamie Koch 16 for PR.

Springdale 62, Selkirk 40: Kelsey Fitzgerald had 21 points, 16 rebounds and five steals as the Chargers (13-2, 7-2) pulled away from the visiting Rangers (9-6, 6-2) in the fourth quarter. Maria Villegas had 16 points in a losing effort.

Inchelium 72, Northport 35: Serena Condon had 25 points, 10 steals and seven assists and Nikki Fry had 16 points and 18 rebounds as the Hornets (8-6, 6-5) defeated the Mustangs (0-15, 0-12) in Northport.

St. Michael’s 49, Wellpinit 27: Marianne Raynor scored 12 points and Jessica Vila and Katie Urann combined for 19 rebounds as the Warriors (4-10, 3-9) beat the visiting Redskins (3-11, 2-9), who got 15 points from Niquie Ali.

North Star

Lakeside 60, Mullan 23: Rian Miller had eight of her 11 points in the first quarter as the Knights (10-2, 7-0) raced to a 23-4 lead and Saundra Curley added 14 points in the win over the Tigers (4-13, 2-5) in Mullan.

Wallace 41, Kootenai 20: Emily Vester had 13 points and Lauren Lavigne grabbed seven rebounds as the Miners (5-7, 4-2) stymied the Warriors (0-13, 0-5) in Wallace.

Non-league

Lind-Ritzville 65, Odessa 28: The Broncos (10-5) raced to a 35-10 lead at the half and coasted past the visiting Tigers (2-10). Corrine Kinney had 18 points for Odessa.

Davenport 50, Wilbur-Creston 21: Katie Vaneske had 12 of her 16 points in the first quarter when the Gorillas (9-4) raced to a 20-4 lead and grabbed nine rebounds against the Wildcats (0-11).

Colfax 43, Tekoa-Oakesdale 35: The visiting Bulldogs (15-1), ranked fifth in 2B, were perfect on 11 free throws, with Emily Shaw hitting five and Abby Erickson four for the road win over the Nighthawks (9-5).

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 52, Valley Christian 34: Sarah Gloyn scored 12 of her 17 points in the second half as the Warriors (14-1), No. 3 in 1B, pulled away from the Panthers (2-12) at VC.
