Health spin sickening

The Spokesman-Review

The Republican line on God, guns and gays resonates in this roundtable. If I believe in God, own guns and am heterosexual, how could I be a Democrat? No one in my family has had an abortion. We have paid our taxes, supported our military by working on key Department of Defense programs and we have even worked at a government nuclear facility. We own a small business and are active in our community. Do we sound like evil liberals that want to control the world?

It’s simple; the Republican line is a false message. It’s been repeated so often by right-wing media that most people accept it as true. The health care reform debate is a shining example of Republican spin. They don’t want the government making their medical decisions with socialized medicine, but they are happy with profit-making insurance companies making all the rules and decisions.

They don’t want to raise taxes to pay for public health care, but are happy to keep paying higher premiums and co-payments. Is there any difference? It’s immoral to gain enormous wealth from the sick and injured.

Republican policies wrecked the financial industry and now they’re blocking health care reform.
