Knights sweep R-Hawks

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Trevor Smith worked six sharp innings and the Corvallis Knights used a four-run first inning to defeat the Spokane RiverHawks 4-1 Wednesday night at Goss Stadium, sweeping a three-game West Coast League baseball series.

Smith (2-0) allowed five hits and one earned run, striking out five and walking two.

The Knights (14-3) reached Spokane starter Cameron Selik (2-1) for five singles and one double in the first. The first five batters Selik faced reached base with hits.

Sean Winston walked and scored in the first for the RiverHawks (8-11).

Clayton Eslick and Cody Ryckman doubled for Spokane. Both were stranded on base.

Spokane plays Moses Lake (0-19) at 6:35 p.m. Friday at Gonzaga University.
