Stabbing is Spokane’s fifth homicide this year

Spokane police are looking for three people after a man was stabbed to death Monday, the fifth homicide this year in the city and the third fatal stabbing. Police say the 24-year-old man, Vitaliy M. Shevchuk, and a female friend were walking to a store Monday night when they exchanged words with people driving by in a red 2008 Toyota Yaris. The man threw a rock through the car’s rear window and fought with the occupants, who were armed with knives, according to a police news release. Police have identified the owner of the car as Savannah Frye and are looking for her as well as two men who were in the car. Anyone with information about Frye is asked to call 911. Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
