Joined United States defender Oguchi Onyewu joined AC Milan on Tuesday, becoming one of the few Americans to play in Italy’s top soccer league. Milan said it had agreed to a three-year contract with the 27-year-old, whose contract with Standard Liege had expired.

Suspended A confrontation with a referee following the United States’ upset soccer victory over Spain has earned midfielder Michael Bradley a three-game suspension, although the penalty is unlikely to affect qualifying for next year’s World Cup.

•New York Giants linebacker Michael Boley has been suspended by the NFL for the first game of the regular season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Boley was arrested in May of 2008 and charged with battery on his wife after she accused him of becoming “too physical” after an argument.

Ordered An appeals court has ordered a new trial for a man convicted of murdering the daughter of former NFL star Fred Biletnikoff. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals made the ruling in San Francisco, citing racial discrimination in the trial of Mohammed Haroon Ali. Ali admitted to strangling his girlfriend, 20-year-old Tracey Biletnikoff, in 1999.

Agreed The Atlanta Hawks have reached an agreement to re-sign guard Mike Bibby to a three-year deal.

Signed Mavericks point guard Rodrigue Beaubois, who has played professionally in France, took part in his first summer-league practice in Dallas and signed his rookie deal with the club.

Returning Olympic volleyball gold medalist Kerri Walsh had planned to take the year off from the pro beach volleyball tour after having a baby this spring. But she’s now making plans to come back in August, the AVP Tour confirmed to the Associated Press.

Penalized Kentucky Derby- and Preakness- winning trainer Rick Dutrow was suspended for 30 days for violating horse racing’s doping rules.

Died French tennis player Mathieu Montcourt, who was recently banned for betting on matches, has died. He was 24. The French tennis federation said that Montcourt died overnight in Paris, but the cause of death is not yet known.
