Poll results suspect

A letter July 7 from Beth Bollinger spreads the propaganda that 70 percent of the public supports a public competitor for health insurance. That falsehood stems from a New York Times/CBS (who else) poll. The point is that there was a serious flaw in the methodology used for the poll in that the participants selected were biased and did not reflect the current split in political thought vis-À-vis Democrat vs. Republican.

Only 25 percent of the survey participants voted for McCain in the 2008 election while 48 percent voted for Mr. Obama, 19 percent hadn’t voted and 8 percent didn’t report their vote. That group of survey participants clearly isn’t representative of the broader population and accordingly lack any credibility.

Ms. Bollinger would do well to get her facts from other than Obama spin-machine blogs, PBS or the New York Times. Let’s put that phony poll to rest in the political graveyard it deserves.
