Michigan woman killed on Highway 2

A three-car crash on Highway 2 north of Spokane killed a Michigan woman Wednesday afternoon. Margaret J. Brabant, 69, of Sault Sainte Marie, died when the 1998 Toyota Camry she was riding in collided with a 1995 Nissan Altima, then struck a 2001 Dodge Stratus, according to Washington State Patrol. The Camry’s driver, Timothy J. Kelley, 61, of Gallup, N.M, was taken to the emergency room at Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he remained Wednesday night. The collision occurred at 4:32 p.m. at Newport Highway and Shady Slope Road when the southbound Altima, driven by Camera M. Cox, 22, of Spokane, collided with Kelley’s northbound Camry. The Camry rotated, striking the Stratus, which was northbound in the neighboring lane, WSP said. All four people were wearing seat belts, according to WSP. Cox was transported to Holy Family Hospital and was released by 9 p.m. The Stratus’ driver, Jerry Winterholler, 67, of West Jordan, Utah, was not injured.
