Energy taxes threaten jobs

The Spokesman-Review

I believe there are better ways to tap this nation’s energy sources than taxing hardworking families and eliminating jobs, particularly among small businesses. News reports, such as the Wall Street Journal, describe H.R. 2454 as the “biggest tax in American history.” At a time when our economy is hurting, we should explore ways of making clean, American energy more affordable – not adding to the cost of energy and eliminating jobs.

In Eastern Washington alone, this bill will eliminate 3,200 jobs and raise the average American family’s energy bill by $1,500 each year. Instead of an energy tax, I favor utilizing every possible source of clean, American energy such as biomass, biodiesel and hydropower.
