Weekend events celebrate Looff Carrousel

Two events this weekend at Riverfront Park will celebrate the centennial of Spokane’s Looff Carrousel.

On Friday, the Spokane Antique Carrousel Society will hold a fundraising ice cream social at 8:30 p.m. at the Carrousel. The $10 entry includes ice cream, Carrousel rides and a brass ring.

The centennial kicks off at 8 a.m. Saturday with $1 Carrousel rides, $1 root beer floats, music, drawings and family activities.

The KSPS documentary “Remember When: Nat Park” will be shown on the IMAX screen at 9 a.m., followed by a dedication at 10:15 and birthday cake – while supplies last – at 11 a.m. Festivities end at 10 p.m.
