Three Freeman High School students now hold the title of national champions after competing in the National Future Business Leaders of America Leadership Conference in California in June.

The trio took first place in the state FBLA competition in the American Enterprise Project category to advance to nationals.

Carolanne Lyons, Stacy Sainsbury and Felicity Weathers then took first place in the national competition in the same category.

Their task was to teach all sixth-graders at Freeman Elementary a unit on the free enterprise system. The three then wrote a 30-page report on the project that detailed their research, lesson plans, evaluation methods and more. They gave a seven-minute presentation on their project before the judges to earn their title as national champions.
