Spokane Police are investigating an attempted OxyContin robbery at the Rite Aid at 810 E. 29th Ave.

Spokane Police say a man entered the store around 11:40 a.m today and gave the pharmacist a note demanding OxyContin, he also claimed he was armed with a gun. The pharmacist started to comply and left the window to get the drugs for the suspect, when she returned the man had left the store empty-handed. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect running from the store.

The suspect is described as a white male with a dark complexion, 6-foot-1 with a medium build, long dark hair with dark facial hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt, shorts, a baseball cap and sunglasses. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect after the attempted robbery.

The Walgreens across the street from the Rite Aid has been robbed three times this year, and the pharmacy inside the Albertsons grocery store just a few blocks south on Grand has been robbed twice this year.

Earlier this month the the Rite Aid pharmacy in the Lincoln Heights shopping center at Regal and 29th Ave. was robbed. The suspect in that robbery was apprehended about a week later.
