Arrested Former NBA all-star Antoine Walker has been arrested on criminal charges stemming from $822,500 in gambling debts in Las Vegas. Douglas County sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Halsey says Walker was arrested Thursday at a Harrah’s Tahoe cabaret bar on Lake Tahoe’s south shore. Deputies were notified of his presence by an employee who had seen a television report about an arrest warrant issued for Walker two days before.

Returning Former Wimbledon champion Michael Stich will break his 12-year retirement to play doubles at next week’s Hamburg tournament. The 40-year-old Stich is the director of the financially strapped event that is struggling to survive after losing its Masters Series status on the tour. The 1991 Wimbledon champion will team with 21-year-old Mischa Zverev, one of Germany’s brightest prospects.

Acquitted Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu has been acquitted of burglary charges in Illinois. A DeKalb County judge acquitted Ikegwuonu of residential burglary and criminal trespassing. Ikegwuonu and his twin brother, Bill, were arrested in November 2006. They were accused of trying to steal a video game system from an apartment in the city of DeKalb.

Matched Restricted free agent Paul Millsap is staying with the Utah Jazz. The Jazz matched Portland’s $32 million offer, keeping Millsap in Utah with a new four-year deal. In addition to the giant raise, Millsap could be taking over the starting job if the Jazz trade Carlos Boozer. Boozer told a Chicago radio station this week that he and the Jazz had agreed to work out a trade that would send him – and his $12.7 million salary for next season – elsewhere.

Rejoined Forward Penny Taylor has rejoined the Phoenix Mercury, where she played four seasons and helped the franchise win the WNBA title. Taylor averaged a career-high 17.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in 2007. She skipped last season to play for the Australian national team, earning a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics.

Extended Georgia women’s basketball coach Andy Landers will remain with the program for three more years. Landers has been the Georgia coach since 1979, and is signed through the 2013-14 season.
