Olgard has strong 2nd day

Alexis Olgard, who will be a senior at Mead HS in the fall, led the U.S. Junior National Team with nine kills and two blocks in a four-set loss to Bulgaria on the second day of the FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship in Tijuana, Mexico, on Friday.

Team USA fell to 0-2 after an opening-day loss to Cuba in four sets. In that match, Olgard had five kills and a team-high four blocks.

The Americans play Turkey today on the final day of round-robin pool play. The top two teams from each of the four-team pools advance to the second-round winner’s pools.
