Agreed The Phoenix Suns and Steve Nash agreed on a two-year, $22 million contract extension on Monday. The deal will keep the two-time MVP point guard under contract with the Suns through the 2011-2012 season.

Signed The Atlanta Hawks have signed their first-round draft choice, guard Jeff Teague. The 6-foot-2 Teague was the 19th choice overall in the 2009 NBA draft.

•Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz has signed a seven-year contract that will keep him with the Hawkeyes through the 2015 season.

•The Boston Bruins signed defenseman Matt Hunwick to a multiyear contract extension. Hunwick scored six goals with 21 assists as a rookie last season.

•The Montreal Canadiens signed goalie Curtis Sanford to a one-year contract. Sanford, 29, went 11-11-1 last season with a 2.69 goals-against average for the Vancouver Canucks.

Arrested Running back Anthony Dixon, Mississippi State’s top returning offensive player, was arrested over the weekend and charged with driving under the influence.

Banned Former European junior time-trial champion Ilnur Zakarin has been banned for doping along with two other Russian cyclists. Zakarin was banned for two years for testing positive for an undisclosed substance. Yekaterina Melnikova was banned for two years, and Kiril Bozhenko was banned for one.

Selected Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi will be playing in the WNBA All-Star game after being chosen as a reserve by the league. She is the league’s top scorer at 20.7 points.

Resigned The president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Joie Chitwood, announced that he will step down after this weekend’s Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. Jeff Belskus, the president and chief executive officer of Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corp., will assume the daily responsibilities of managing the speedway.

Died Three-time Olympic speedskater Ed Rudolph has died in a car accident in Wyoming. Rudolph and his wife, Gwen, were killed Sunday afternoon when the driver of a GMC Suburban swerved to avoid a deer and collided with Rudolph’s car.
