Three things we’ll be talking about this week

1Judd Apatow has created a critically beloved TV show (“Freaks and Geeks”), written a few forgettable movies (“Don’t Mess With the Zohan”) and directed a couple monster hits (“The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and “Knocked Up”). His latest directorial effort, “Funny People,” hits theaters Friday.

2On Saturday, the Spokane Highland Games will bring Celtic music, highland dancing, pipe band exhibitions, the caber toss and – new this year – a haggis-tasting to the South Lawn of the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center. Visit www.spokanehighlandgames.org for information.

3 The top-ranked Spokane Shock begin their run through the afl2 playoffs at 7 p.m. Saturday, hosting the Stockton Lightning in some first-round action at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. The Shock hope to avenge last year’s loss in the championship game and return to Arena Cup glory.
