Trips offer outdoor adventure

Spokane Parks and Recreation Department is offering tours and trips in August. The outdoor trips are for people 8 and older.

•A Kayak and Wine Tour, for ages 21 and older, is next Thursday, from 6 to 9 p.m. Paddle on Boulder Beach on the Spokane River and go wine tasting at a local winery. Cost is $27 per person.

•On Aug. 9, participants ages 10 and older can enjoy a Clark Fork River Raft Trip, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The trip includes a mix of class III-plus rapids and calm stretches for swimming and time to relax on the Clark Fork River in Montana. The cost is $74 per person. Lunch is included.

•From Aug. 10 to Aug. 24, people ages 16 and over can take Nordic Walking for Fun. The trek will be held on three Mondays from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Interested walkers will experience an efficient and aerobic workout and will meet in Manito Park. Cost is $52. Poles are provided.

•For ages 18 and over, have an evening out with Kayak and Klink’s by the Lake on Aug. 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. Paddle Williams Lake, and then enjoy dinner at Klink’s on the Lake. Cost is $51 per person.

•A Kayak Tour at Badger Lake by Moonlight will be Aug. 14, from 7 to 11 p.m., and is for participants age 18 and older. Cost is $25 per person or $22 for REI members.

•Canoe Family Fun will be Aug. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. The family event is for those age 8 and older. Cost is $27 for two people and $17 for each additional person. For REI members the cost is $23 for two people and $13 for each additional person.

•On Aug. 15, learn how to use a telescope and star chart to observe constellations at Astronomy Basics, from 7 to 11 p.m., at the Bowl and Pitcher Overlook in Riverside State Park. The event is for people age 8 and older and is will be guided by the Spokane Astronomical Society. Cost is $17 for adults and $11 for ages 16 and under.
