The Slice: Maybe we’ve missed the bus on these promos

I have one or two observations about the STA “How a Great City Moves” commercials and the latest KHQ promo campaign.

But I’ll let you go first.

Growth management — the early years: You have three weeks to figure out how to note the anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

Slice answers: No real consensus emerged after The Slice asked which it was easier to be in the Spokane area, a vegetarian or an atheist.

Some said it’s easier to be a vegetarian because that’s arguably less controversial. Others said it’s easier to be an atheist because it is usually not difficult to keep one’s views on religion private.

And there were those who said neither choice is a picnic. “Either way you’re labeled weird,” wrote Vince Eberly.

But a couple of readers suggested that the question sort of misses the point because a fair number of vegetarians and atheists (including some who are both) actively enjoy doing battle with the forces of conformity, even if it can be exhausting.

Just wondering: A character in the BBC/PBS series “Lark Rise to Candleford” refers to various confections or quirks as “My one weakness.”
