Free angling this weekend in Wash., Idaho
Fees waived both days in Washington, on Saturday in Idaho
OLYMPIA — Time to bait those hooks: this is free fishing weekend in Washington and free angling day in Idaho on Saturday.
The Washington Fish and Wildlife Department says no license is required to go fishing Saturday and Sunday. Other rules such as size limits and seasons still apply.
After the weekend a license will be required again. An annual fishing license for fresh and salt water costs $42.35 for state residents. Fishing stories remain free.
With the free weekend, the department hopes to encourage new anglers. It has posted a Web page with information for beginners, such as how to bait a hook.
In Idaho, a resident fishing license costs $25.75, according to Idaho Fish and Game.
