In brief: Players nominated to baseball series

Two players apiece from Rogers and Mead were nominated to the All-State baseball series after feeder games Wednesday and Thursday at Shadle Park’s Jackson Field.

Jake Partridge and Jake Campbell of Rogers, and Seth Peterson and Grant Fink of Mead were nominated for the games June 13 and 14 in Yakima.

Also nominated: Billy Moon, University; Tanner Knutson, Deer Park; Ben Pinkham, Colville; Mike Matson, Reardan; Drew Abelman, Cheney; and Ryne Leonard, Mt. Spokane.

Men’s rowing

Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta: Gonzaga’s varsity 8+ boat placed fifth in its heat and third in its repechage race on Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif.

GU’s second varsity 8 placed fifth in its heat. The freshman 8+ took sixth in its heat.
