Not so fast, Big Unit

The Spokesman-Review

Others may celebrate Randy Johnson’s 300th victory, but I will wait until he gets to 301. While Lou Piniella was managing the Seattle Mariners, he manufactured a win for Johnson to get him to 20 for the season. The Mariners had a big lead when Piniella took out his starter in the fifth inning and turned the game over to Johnson. Since the starter had not completed five innings, he was not eligible for the win and Johnson inherited a tainted win. I have always been amazed at the lack of respect both Johnson and Piniella showed for the game in this case.
