Driver arrested after SUV crashes through salon

Suspected drunk driver slams into Fantastic Sam’s

Employees of a Spokane Valley hair salon are picking up the pieces of their shop after a suspected drunk driver smashed her SUV into the business early this morning. Spokane Valley Police said a woman was driving eastbound on Sprague just before 3 a.m. when she crashed into another vehicle then slammed into the front of the Fantastic Sam’s hair salon, 13817 E. Sprague Ave. The late-model Kia SUV traveled completely inside the shop and had crashed into an interior wall separating the hair salon from an adjoining business. Scott Jamieson, owner of the salon at Evergreen Square, estimated the crash caused $20,000 in damages to the building and interior furnishings. Jamieson and his employees were cleaning up pieces of broken glass, furniture and hair salon products strewn over the front of the shop this morning. “I feel like somebody crashed our house,” said Lisa Ramm, a hair stylist. Jamieson said the driver did not have insurance. Police arrested the woman shortly after the crash, and she was booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of DUI, said Spokane Valley police. Jamieson said the shop will be closed for several days while repairs are made and that customers are being asked to go to another Fantastic Sam’s on Argonne Road at Mission Street.
