Drags off and flying at SCR

Rob Harrison of North Vancouver, B.C., led the Comp Eliminator field in his 2005 Cavalier after Friday’s qualifying on the first day of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series stop at Spokane County Raceway.

Byron Setters of Red Deer, Alberta, grabbed the No.1 spot in Super Stock, while Tacoma’s Bill Edgeworth and his ’77 Firebird led the way in Stock.

Barry Daniluk of Red Deer led in the Top Sportsman class, powering his 2002 Camaro down the quarter-mile in 6.768 seconds at more than 200 mph.

Top Dragster is led by Steve Cook of Rexburg, Idaho, and the Sportsman Motorcycle Series pole went to Kennewick’s Danny Lee Patridge.

The event is the third of seven in Northwest Division competition.

Gates open today at 8 a.m. with final qualifying and time trials beginning at 9 a.m.

Baseball

The Spokane RiverHawks’ West Coast League game at Wenatchee was rained out. The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. today.
