In brief: Girl hurt on Lake CdA dies of injuries
A 14-year-old Coeur d’Alene girl involved in a personal watercraft accident died Saturday as a result of her injuries.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department said she sustained extensive internal and head injuries after being ejected from the Yamaha personal watercraft she was driving on Lake Coeur d’Alene about 2:50 p.m. Friday. The girl collided with a 15-year-old girl from Pinehurst; both drivers had male passengers.
Police did not release the name of the victim, and the accident remained under investigation.

UI professor killed in tractor accident
The chairman of the University of Idaho Department of Computer Science was killed at his home in Deary, Idaho, in a tractor accident.
Mark Manwaring, 61, was killed when he was pinned beneath a tractor he had been operating.
Manwaring, whose wife reported the fatal accident to the Latah County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday evening, was doing landscaping with the older tractor when it flipped over, the Lewiston Tribune reported.
As a student at Utah State University, he contributed to the design of a communication system used on an early NASA space shuttle flight.
He became chairman of UI’s computer science program in 2006.
He previously had positions at Washington State University and Brigham Young University.

Driver booked for DUI after head-on crash
Two people were injured in a head-on collision Friday on Highway 95 in the Worley area.
Idaho State Police said Kenneth P. Zehm, 32, of Worley, drove left of center while northbound in a 1994 Toyota 4Runner about 5 p.m. He collided with a 1989 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Martha E. Green, 76, of Plummer, Idaho, near milepost 400.
Both drivers were transported to Kootenai Medical Center. Zehm was later booked into the Kootenai County Jail for aggravated DUI. He was not wearing a seat belt. Green’s condition was not available Saturday night.
Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police routed traffic around the accident during the investigation.
