A recent burglary at the Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels left the office trashed with overturned furniture, thrown food and walls covered with profane messages, and Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information that solves the crime.

The damages, expected to cost thousands of dollars to repair, occurred the weekend of June 6 and 7. It appears a door to the office, 6903 E. Fourth Ave., adjacent to the old Pratt Elementary School, may not have been properly latched, police said in a news release.

Surveillance footage shows four young teenagers walking to the building.

Damages included a hole smashed in a wall, stained carpets, destroyed wall clocks and a broken stereo.

“Adding insult to injury, the suspects used markers to write disparaging and profane insults to both staff and meal recipients on the walls,” Sgt. Dave Reagan wrote. “It appears the suspects made themselves hot chocolate and popcorn while in the building.”

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (509) 327-5111 or submit tips online at www.crimestoppersinlandnorthwest.org.
