The Timbers at Wandermere, a 42-unit apartment complex in north Spokane, has been described as part of a Spokane resurgence in higher-quality rental living. The seven apartment buildings making up the complex, in the 800 block of East Hastings Road, have plentiful wood trim, walk-in closets and attached garages opening directly into living spaces. Developed by Harley and Lisa Douglass, the Timbers units rent from $795 to $975 a month, with one-bedroom units at the lower end and two-bedroom apartments at the higher. They’re offered in five floor plans from 955 square feet to 1,352 square feet. “This is a small apartment community,” said Lisa Douglass, noting the complex was built with simplicity in mind. “There’s no common recreation area or swimming pool,” she said. Six of the 42 units have been rented. As an incentive, the Douglasses offer rent or garage discounts for those signing six- or 12-month leases. They’ve also laid down a no-pets rule for the apartments. Even goldfish? Yes, goldfish are excluded for now because The Timbers is a “pet-free” community.

Online networking firm moving
LaunchPadINW.com, a Spokane company devoted to social and business networking, will soon relocate its office to the fifth floor of the Holley Mason Building, 157 S. Howard. Formed in fall 2008 by Alan Battle and Bill Kalivas, the company operates the social networking site LaunchPadINW.com. Its other main focus is working with Spokane agencies or groups to attract more business to the region, said Kalivas. For the last few months LaunchPadINW has rented space in the Spokane Entrepreneurial Center, 308 W. First. Its next quarterly networking event will be at 5:30 p.m. June 30 at the Holley Mason Building.
Subway replaces paint store
Parker Paint will leave its downtown Spokane building, 41 W. Third, and be replaced by a new Subway sandwich shop. The owner of the 3,500-square foot building has sold it to new owners. The seller’s name is not being disclosed, said Marshall Clark, who represented the previous owner. The buyer is the franchise operator of the Subway shop. That shop replaces the Subway near Third and Division streets that was torn down last year after a company bought the land to build a Peppertree hotel at that corner. The Peppertree project has been stalled due to financing problems.
