Free meals offered at area schools

Local school districts have announced plans to host free summer meals for kids again this year.

Schools and other locations serve lunch and breakfast during the week. The meals are open to all youths under age 18 and no registration or proof of income is required. Children do not need to live within a school district to eat meals there. Meals must be eaten on site.

Central Valley: Breakfast and lunch served Monday through Thursday, starting Monday, through July 23 at Broadway Elementary, 11016 E. Broadway Ave. Serving times are 7:15 to 8 a.m. and noon to 12:45 p.m.

East Valley: The district is teaming up with Spokane Valley Parks and Recreation and the Valley YMCA to serve an increased number of sites. Meals will be served Monday through Thursday, starting Monday, through Aug. 13. Otis Orchards Elementary will not offer breakfast and Sullivan Park will have breakfast but no lunch.

Locations and hours are as follows: Trent Elementary, 3303 N. Pines Road, 8:15-9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.; East Valley High School, 15711 E. Wellesley Ave., 7:45-8:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-noon; Otis Orchards Elementary, 22000 E. Wellesley Ave., 11:30 a.m.-noon; Valley YMCA, 2421 N. Discovery Place, 8:30-9 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.; Edgecliff Park, 800 S. Park Road, 9:30-10 a.m. and 12:30-1 p.m.; Valley Mission Park, 11405 E. Mission Ave., 9-9:30 a.m. and noon-12:30 p.m.; Sullivan Park, 9-9:30 a.m.; and Terrace View Park, 13500 E. 24th Ave., 9-9:30 a.m. and noon-12:30 p.m.

West Valley: Meals will be served Monday through Thursday, starting Monday, through Aug. 20 at Centennial Middle School, 915 N. Ella Road, and Monday through Aug. 13 at West Valley High School, 8301 E. Buckeye Ave. Serving times are from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
