RiverHawks snap three-game streak

Garrett Luippold (1-0) pitched six solid innings and Dylan Gavin drove in two runs as the Spokane RiverHawks (4-6) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the host Moses Lake Pirates (0-10) in West Coast League play at Larson Field on Friday night.

Luippold allowed five hits and one earned run, striking out three and walking two. Paul Sewald earned his first save by pitching 11/3 hitless innings.

Gavin’s two-out, two-run single in the first inning staked the RiverHawks to a 2-0 lead.

Soccer

Tye Perdido scored at 71 minutes to give the host Spokane Spiders (3-9-0) a 3-2 win over the Abbotsford Mariners (2-5-1) in Premier Development League play at Greyhound Park. Zach Smith and Keith Realing also scored for the Spiders.
